Not to be outdone…..

‘k so I’m not quite as nerdy as my husband, almost but not quite.. I’m going to do a condensed version of the Omnivore’s Hundred (Barbara Fischer linked to Andrew’s list and instructions (you can find W’s entry here)).

1. Venison

7. Cheese fondue – love fondues

11. Calamari – always was one of the few types of seafood I’d eat, I’m branching out a bit now.

13. PB&J sandwich – long story – when we first moved to Cape Town (many moons ago, and before the move back of 1988) we stayed at The Avenue Hotel, in Fish Hoek. The cook insisted on making me Peanut Butter and Jam sandwiches for my lunchbox. I hated them, haven’t eaten them since

15. Hot dog from a street cart – I have to be really, really hungry to eat one of these

21. Heirloom tomatoes – if they are tomatoes one grows oneself, huh! the ones that were growing in our house when we first bought it – they were quite tasty – the plant has subsequently died

24. Rice and beans – one of hubby’s favourites

27. Dulce de leche – another long story…. my eldest brother when we were all still living at home, had a habit of putting tins of condensed milk on the stove and heating them up till they caramelised – that is until one exploded and spread tiny bits of condense milk all over the kitchen

34. Sauerkraut – W’s braised version.

38. Vodka jelly/Jell-O – who hasn’t?

53. Abalone – Dad used to dive for them off Miller’s Point

55 McDonald’s Big Mac Meal – ok for fear of being ostracised from every faction of my family and extended – I quite like McDonald’s

73. Louche absinthe – got the hairs on my chest to prove it (vile stuff)

82. Eggs Benedict – nothing really amusing to say about this

83. Pocky – got some on the kitchen counter as we speak (well our version of them)

87. Goulash – W’s recipes – yummy
