{it’s hard thinking up appropriate but clever titles each time}
I’ve been wrestling with my blog and trying to post pictures for the last week, for some reason every time I posted a pic (from the new camera) the blog seemed to distort it. Made them look almost like those old cowboy movies one used to watch, where the people looked ten feet tall. (‘k so it also thinned the people out which is an upside but I wasn’t happy).
Wouter suggested I change my theme because it turns out the space available for pics wasn’t wide enough for what I wanted to do. Hence the new theme which I rather like; nothing fancy – clean white spaces and the ability to change the top pic to whatever I like, (which I’ll do as soon as I remember to).
Yesterday, despite the temperature, the kids and I went to the beach which is quite something for someone who really doesn’t like the beach that much.
*wavy lines* I’m about 6 or 7 and once again we’re spending the weekend at the beach looking for shells (my folks were keen conchologists and dragged us kids to the beach at any opportunity). I made an awesome discovery and rushed over to my father to show him what I perceived as being the best shell anyone of us had found, like ever! He looks at it goes “oh we have hundreds of these at home” and proceeds to toss it into the sea.
*devastated*
Then there was the time we had Xmas lunch on the beach with the highlights being sand in our sandwiches and every single one of us (the kids) being stung by either blue bottles or those huge jellyfish one finds on Durban beaches.
Combine that with being tossed around by the waves, nearly being washed out to sea by the tide and getting cold sores every. single. time. I stepped foot on the sand and you can see why I might not be a beach person.
Still I will do anything to be able to take pictures of the kids including braving the beach (ice-creams ensure their co-operation).
Course they don’t always co-operate they figure it’s funny to goof around and make Mom a teensy bit aggro.
I retaliated by taking other pictures not focused on them – the aggro feeling shifted (hehehe)
Cool pic huh?
“Mom, you’re not taking us!”
One is never too old for a jungle gym.
For the record it was frik cold and my fingers went completely numb but we had fun.
