There was a queen sized bed advertised in the Cape Ads so off Wouter and I went with the Yellow Thing (trusty landrover) to see if we liked it. The base doesn’t have feet, but Wouter reckons he can either build in drawers or make feet for it. It’s a very solid pine base with what looks like a reasonably decent mattress. Fortunately the woman selling it had two chaps working for her – otherwise we’d have battled to get it up the stairs and onto the roof. As it was we had to enlist the help of my father to get it off the landrover back home.
We also chose the exterior paint for the house, armed with my photograph and a vague idea of what I wanted (Wouter told me the colour choice was up to me – when I moaned at him for not taking more of an interest, and said I was panicking about making the wrong decision, he went ‘welcome to my world’.  Some things are just more important to each of us than others :)). We went to Builders Warehouse where a very helpful chap told us what we should be doing and what type of paint we need. I hate the green on the house…
and if we’re going to change that well then the white must go as well. The house would need a new coat of paint whatever we did, so I figure change the green to a rusty red (roof red according to the chap) and the walls to a cream (flamenco) which would then complement the brown of the veranda and fence (I hope). Of course this does mean that the wall around the house needs painting as well. Wouter said he’d get them to start painting today as he needs to keep the team busy whilst he catches up on the things *he* needs to do. They have already painted primer on the garage, when I asked Jessica if she noticed the difference she goes ‘wasn’t it always white?’ *sigh* kids.
Remember the lowered ceiling in the lounge?
Here’s what it looks like now, a huge difference!
The weather turned into one of those beautiful pre-winter days and I couldn’t resist taking a shot of our view from the veranda, I suspect we’ll be spending a lot of time sitting on our veranda on days like this.
As opposed to days like this (this picture was taken a few weeks back)
And one last picture for today – the garage, which is looking more and more like a garage every day. If you look in the upper corner you can see the garden light I was talking about a few posts back.
