The other morning I was waxing lyrical about how wonderful it is to be awake when no-one else is, well now it’s just starting to irk. On a work day I have to get up around 5:00 so you’d think my body would be delighted when a weekend rolls around or in this case the last day of holiday and sleep in until at least 8:00, dare I say 9:00. But no, damn body/mind has decided 6:00 is the perfect time to wake up on a Sunday morning. Sucks lollipops. (Tamsyn has a habit of saying ‘that sucks’ to anything which she doesn’t particularly agree with, Mom feels it isn’t very ladylike, so I suggested she add the lollipop at the end of it to pretty it up a bit, so now we get ‘that sucks *pause* lollipops’ – but if she’s particularly peeved off… ‘that sucks *pause* no lollipops’).
Jessica, Tamsyn and I went shopping yesterday, ostensibly to find a king size duvet, cover and fitted sheet. I spent a large portion of Friday at the local mall trying to find a suitable duvet cover – slim pickings, particularly in king size. (When you have a husband who is 6 foot 2 and a half inches – one needs a big bed. Actually the bed is a queen but the rationale behind the king size duvet is the hope that Wouter will end up with some duvet by the time morning rolls around, I tend to hog the bedding – completely without malice of forethought I might add.)
There was also a certain amount of bribing on my part to get the girls to come with me, promise of lunch, a movie and in Jessica’s case – a book shop. We went to see Mamma Mia and what a delight it was. Probably more a ‘chick flick’ than anything else but so much fun. Only one small criticism on my part, Pierce Brosnan – gorgeous and great in the role, but my crumbs he can’t sing. Other than that it was wonderful and I didn’t want the movie to end.
We also found the perfect duvet cover and accessories at @Home – finally got to spend some of the vouchers we received as wedding gifts, which made a small dent into the final cost. I think a modicum of guilt set in as well as I decided to treat Wouter to the wok he’s been searching for, for so long, Le Creuset (need I say more?). It’s his house warming, xmas, birthday and anniversary gifts rolled in one.
On the house front we have finally got the kitchen counters – yay. Of course Wouter still has to cut them and fit them, a job which I don’t envy him at all. They’re going to look good when he’s done :-)
Yay, people are awake!
